Sportsmanship
The importance of sportsmanship in every sport in every school in every corner of the country plays the decisive factor. Doing a sport isn't all about winning and losing a match, its about training as a team, playing as a team, winning as a team. But that is besides the point. Today, sji played ri at the home grounds of sji. a showcase of supreme rugby skills between both teams in the half cloody friday afternoon along with a few others was like paradise. all was fine, until people started spelling trouble with the capital 't'. and it all started from the spectator stand, in which i'm totally disappointed with. it started off a cheering competition which say the opposite being outnumbered. cheering at wrong times led to much discontent in both sides throughout the game. it resulted in faces, letters shown and stuff. then came this kick of the ri rugger. everything was fine, until someone from among the crowd, started shouting missmissmiss, which sparked off many others shouting too. it resulted in most of the people shouting which totally pissed me off. can you imagine it, people of all kind of leadership positions you know. so that totally changed my views about sji guys alright. so disappointing. after the match, i went to go try make things better with the ri guy. so i went to shake hands with him and apologise. guess what. he was really reluctant at the start, crossing his arms in front of his chest, refusing the handshake. but soon,he shook my hand and said it was okay. see that's like better sportsmanship okay. he is forgiving, able to forgive and forget. till date, sji guys are still attempting to fight their case and trying to reason that it was okay for their actions. a qoute from my friend. school spirit doesnt mean putting down another school. neither doesnt putting down another school make your school look better than the others, with better team spirit. i am but a lone figure. easily outnumbered. but all i want to put across is, true sportsmanship is not only shown on the field, but off pitch too. guys, watch your behaviour. period.
